The Structured Values Education Program (YADEP*) is a comprehensive study that enables the sharing of basic knowledge and concepts related to values education in connection with the academic achievements offered in schools.
At Dost College, which we established in Ankara in 2015, we started the activities of establishing interdisciplinary relations between the Science, Social, Mathematics, Turkish and Life Studies courses and “basic concepts of values education and religious education” within the framework of this understanding that we adopted as an educational mission.
The deep background of YADEP studies is that we have taken the educational approach, which is considered important in the Qur’an, as an example. We have noticed that belief in Allah and the principles of creation are often associated with elements in the universe in the Qur’an. Areas that are the subject of academic sciences such as rain, planets, soil, plants and animals often find their place in the Qur’an, and all of them are presented with the aim of getting to know Allah first.
Our Holy Book, which is the main reference of our truths and values, reflects a magnificent harmony in which the beings that are the words of creation and the names and characteristics of Allah, who created them, are presented together.
We have tried to adapt this harmony to all the information we share with our students. For this purpose, YADEP documents have been produced within 5 years with the efforts of many educators. These documents consist of presentation files, enriched lesson plans, question examples and reading texts. The contents, which are prepared in a way that teachers can easily apply during their courses and students can follow with interest, pleasure, and curiosity, have been applied and improved many times in Dost College classrooms.
In the last few years, as the demand for accessing these special contents from outside the school has increased, we have decided to make YADEP studies, our “mind effort”, available to all educators and parents who wish to use them as of 2020.
With our prayers that these studies will one day be translated into different languages of the world and make a small but important contribution to the “meaning” and “value” of the information presented all over the world.
*YADEP is an abbreviation formed from the initials of the words “The Structured Values Education Platform” in Turkish.
